1st Sundays
Smithtown Historical Society Frank Brush Barn
From Northern State Parkway: Take the Parkway east until it ends and merges onto veterans Highway (Route 454). Move to left lanes and bear left onto route 347. Look for right exit onto Route 111, then turn left at traffic light onto route 111. north toward Smithtown. Follow route 111 to the major intersection at Main Street (Route 25). Turn right onto Main Street and left at the Epenetus Smith Tavern (211 Middle Country Road), just before the first traffic light, opposite the bank of New York (0.1 mile). The barn is behind the tavern. Long Island Expressway: Take Exit 56 onto route 111 North. Stay on route 111 all the way to Main Street (Route 25). Note: Route 111 twists and turns, so watch the road signs!) Turn right onto main Street and left at the Epenetus Smith tavern. The barn is behind the tavern. 3rd Sundays Smithtown Masonic Temple Take the LIE to exit 56. At the end of the ramp, left on Rte 111 going north. Stay on Rte 111 until it comes to Rte 25 and Rte 25A in Smithtown. From the intersection of Rte 111, Rte 25 and Rte 25A go north on Rt25A. In a very short distance, less than 0.1 mi, you will see a left turn called River Road. Its real name is Nissequogue River Rd, but all that would not fit on a sign, so it is condensed to River Rd. Make the left turn onto River Rd. The landmark is the big white Presbyterian Church. Go north on River Rd about 500 yards or so, and you will see the Smithtown Masonic Temple on the left. If you get to the top of the hill and see the train tracks, turn around. If you don't see any of this, you are lost. Go back to go, do not collect $200, and start over.
